It has been a while since we produced our initial prototype wheels, and the intervening time has been taken up with other development work, day to day production etc etc. The passing of this time has allowed us to manufacture some jigs, fixtures and tooling required to make the self quartering parts for the tools. It isn’t worth revealing all the considerations we’ve made in connection with producing the self quartering product but it will benefit from all the additional thinking time. As you’d expect we’ll be starting with the most popular wheels in the range and its no surprise that this is the oldest tooling simply because these wheels were also the most popular when the range was conceived. Some of these tools go back to the Studiolith days when modellers were expected to be prepared to drill out their own crankpin holes. It seems ridiculous to produce a self quartering wheel where the customer has to drill out the crank pin, so that one thought increased the amount of work we have to do...................
